Having carefully considered the feedback from the consultation, as well as from further engagement with various stakeholders, we have reached our decisions on the implementation of IfATE’s approval of post-16 qualifications

The consultation was launched on 30 June 2022 and closed on 10 August 2022. We are grateful to the 51 individuals and organisations who responded. We are also grateful for the 150+ stakeholders who attended engagement sessions during this period. Feedback received both from consultation responses and direct engagement have been factored in when reaching our decisions in this matter.

DECISION

Having carefully considered the feedback from the consultation, as well as from further engagement with various stakeholders, we have decided on our approach to implementing the following elements of the reform programme:

  • the issuing of employer-led strategic guidance
  • our pre-defining of qualification areas and the need for an exception process
  • our approach to the application of our statutory tests
  • our criteria for qualification assessment
  • our requirements for the titling and materials of technical qualifications
  • the collection and sharing of EDI data
  • the embedding of areas such as sustainability and digital

Our detailed response to the questions posed within each of these areas, and the decisions we have reached, are covered within our consultation response document.

The outcomes from the consultation are reflected in the criteria and guidance now published by IfATE for the approval of level 3 qualifications. These criteria can be found within the Qualifications section of our website.
