Level 3 – Employer-proposed technical qualifications – adult only
IfATE requires a proposal for this category due to the absence of a published occupational standard to which the qualification can be aligned. For this category, IfATE will use the proposal stage to assess how best to progress the application through our review process, firstly by agreeing how to address the issue of the absence of a published occupational standard.

Apprenticeship builder and submissions
Apprenticeship builder has different parts covering the information needed for the:
occupation proposal
occupational standard
EPA plan
You need to complete each part as you go through the development process. Any information needed for different parts will carry through the builder.

Mandated qualifications policy (excluding degrees)
The following two exceptions apply:
submission of a previously returned occupational standard or EPA plan in line with the outgoing policy.In such circumstances, we will accept a resubmission based on that policy
where we approved an occupation proposal in a previous cycle with significant work on drafting the occupational standard and EPA plan already undertaken in line with the outgoing policy.

Introduction to post-16 level 3 and level 2 technical qualifications
The reforms’ core aim is to ensure that, by 2030, all TQs are built around occupational standards. These standards are approved by The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE).

Engineering and manufacturing route review report
This route review has provided an opportunity to take a closer look at the importance of engineering and manufacturing occupations within the UK economy and ensure that the occupational standards which apprenticeships, T Levels and higher technical qualifications (HTQs) are based on provide the sector with the right skills and growth for the future.
As route panel chairs, we have been able to see the positive impact that the apprenticeship programme has had on the sector and the wider economy.

Glossary
Accelerated apprenticeship - an accelerated apprenticeship is where the apprentice’s planned duration is shorter (by at least 3 months) than the typical duration of the occupational standard, based on prior learning. Minimum requirements of an apprenticeship must still be met, including the 12-month minimum duration and minimum volume of off-the-job training.
