Institute chair sets out skills vision at special House of Lords event

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute) held a very special event in the House of Lords to introduce our high-profile chair to political, business and FE sector leaders.
Baroness Ruby McGregor Smith, who is also president of the British Chambers of Commerce, made her name in business as the first Asian woman chief executive of a FTSE 250 company, Mitie Group, which is the largest facilities management organisation in the UK.

Institute chair recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours List

The chair of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute) has been made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.
Antony Jenkins joined the Institute in June 2016 and has led our expansion from a start-up to a leading force in the technical education arena.

Product Assurance Committee
The purpose of the Product Assurance Committee (PAC) is to monitor and report that IfATE’s products (Occupational Maps, Apprenticeships, end-point assessments, funding bands, T Levels, HTQs and Post 16 Qualifications (at Levels 2 and 3)) are meeting the needs of employers, apprentices and other stakeholders, with a particular focus on quality and impact.

Developing an occupation proposal
An occupational standard forms the basis of IfATE approved apprenticeships and technical education products. It contains a description of the occupation (occupational profile) and the ‘knowledge, skills, and behaviours’ (KSBs) needed to be competent in it.
