First-ever heat pump apprenticeship receives Government funding
12 September 2023 The UK’s first ever dedicated low-carbon heating apprenticeship is set to be launched as the Government has confirmed funding for the scheme. The Low-Carbon Heating Technician Apprenticeship will equip a new generation of workers to help reach the Government’s target of installing 600,000 heat pumps a year by 2028, as the nation shifts away from fossil fuel heating systems and onto renewables.

Green Careers Week: Over 200 green apprenticeships now supporting net zero
6 November 2023 Over 200 apprenticeships are now supporting England’s drive to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, with hundreds more set to become greener. Designed and updated by thousands of employers with support from the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE), the green apprenticeships include six with the King’s Coronation emblem in celebration of the outstanding job they are doing with supporting sustainability, an issue close to our monarch’s heart.

HTQs align to existing occupational standards, providing learners with entry-level competence and allowing them to enter their chosen profession or progress onto higher education. A list of the first batch of approved HTQs in the construction route will be published in June 2022.
