The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) has today (15 June) opened recruitment for its Assessment Panel.

This is a great opportunity to play a role in apprenticeship and technical education assessment, driving up quality and ensuring learners have the right skills and competencies for employment.

IfATE’s assessment panel is made up of experts in assessment, who offer expert, impartial challenge and support to officials and the board. They also ensure IfATE’s products are high quality, meet the assessment needs of employers and learners, and follow best practice.

Candidates will be proven assessment experts with the independence to offer impartial advice on matters relating to apprenticeships, skills and technical education across the skills system. IfATE is particularly interested in expanding the panel’s expertise in the area of assessment of professional and work-based competencies and skills.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A national/international reputation as an assessment expert covering technical, professional and work-based skills
  • Significant experience as a senior leader
  • An understanding of the government’s vision for apprenticeships, skills and technical education and knowledge of the landscape within which IfATE operates
  • The personal strength, impartiality and integrity to maintain the independence of the IfATE and help ensure its products are high quality and meet the assessment needs of employers.
Nikki Christie, deputy director for the business services division, said: “Our assessment panel play a vital role in providing expert advice on the assessment elements in all our products. We are looking for an individual with senior level expertise, who ideally has experience with our products and knowledge of assessment policy, evaluation and research. It’s an exciting time to join IfATE to ensure all programmes maintain the highest quality and are successful for everyone.”
