The Institute regularly reviews apprenticeship standards to ensure they are high-quality, fit for purpose and deliver for employers and apprentices. We want to hear from you about how these standards are working and where we can make changes for the benefit of apprenticeships and T Levels. At the same time we are also asking for your views on the occupational map relating to the same route. This is because the maps will set out the technical education landscape now and in the future.
Review of the Hair and Beauty Route
The review of the occupational map and apprenticeship standard for the Hair and Beauty route commenced on 29 July.
The standard in scope for the review is:
The consultation for this route closed on 22 September. We have reviewed the occupational map, and assessed the Level 2 Hair Professional standard against the Institute’s current approval criteria, taking into consideration feedback from the consultation and wider engagement. We have also engaged with the trailblazer for this standard.
Due to advice from the government on Covid-19, all current route reviews are now postponed.
The Institute recognises that Covid-19 presents several challenges for employers. A key aim of the route reviews is to be consultative and engage with employers in a meaningful way, which is not possible currently.
